Learning Difficulties, Slow Learners, ADHD, Autism

Remedial intervention is for students who are not performing well in school because they are struggling in areas like Reading,Writing, Language, Social science, Science or Mathematics. The Remedial education focuses on the foundational skills the child needs to master. At Empower, we provide remedial intervention for children having challenges in reading, writing, spellings, handwriting, arithmetic and oral language skills. Our instructions are uniquely designed to meet the individual needs of a child with learning/academic concerns. We adapt content, teaching methodology and delivery instruction to meet the appropriate needs of the child.

Handwriting Development and Remediation

Writing is an essential skill that activates the brain. It involves complex motor and cognitive skills and is best mastered in early school years to prevent forming bad habits. It is best mastered early in the schooling years to prevent forming bad habits. Our multisensory Handwriting programme caters to all kinds of learners. Our teaching strategies benefit children who exhibit difficulties in letter formation, size of the letters, inappropriate spacing between words, excessive or inadequate pencil pressure and incorrect pencil grip. Apart from developing the mechanics of writing, our curriculum also emphasises on the pre writing skills and fine motor development.

Early Language and Communication Development

Language development is a critical part of your child’s overall development. It supports your child’s ability to communicate, express and understand feelings. It also enhances thinking and problem-solving, and developing and maintaining relationships. Through our Early language and communication development programme we support and guide parents to elicit communication from their children in their natural environment.

Home Support programme

Through our Home-Based Programme we support parents in implementing the educational programme prepared by us based on the unique needs of their child when they are unable to attend face to face sessions at our center.

Psycho-Educational evaluation

A psycho-educational assessment is an evaluation conducted by a psychologist to determine whether a child or teenager has developmental and/or learning challenges. This assessment provides an in-depth exploration of a child’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing parents to gauge their child’s development.

Teacher and Parent training workshops

Empower conducts training programmes to enrich and provide skills to teachers and parents in the form of workshops and modules. Additionally, we also conduct faculty development workshops in schools. The workshops are customised based on the requirements. Some of the training sessions imparted by us are:

Toy and Resource Library

Our toy and resource library provides educational books, materials and toys on a subscription basis. The collection also includes educational materials and books that cater to children's conceptual learning.

About us

Empower is co-founded by Dr. Ekta G Kamal and Preeti Jain, both special educators by choice. They have worked as Special Educators in mainstream schools for a number of years and continue to provide educational consultation in several schools in Bangalore. Both Ekta and Preeti are also Certified Handwriting Development Specialists (Handwriting Without Tears, USA) and Certified Early Language and communication development professionals using Hanen strategies (The Hanen Institute).

Preeti Jain
Dr. Ekta is a qualified dentist, with a vast experience working in the field of dentistry. She went on to do her Diploma in Specific Learning Disabilities and a Certificate course in Autism from KPAMRC. She also holds a MA in Inclusive Education and Special Educational Needs from Northampton University, UK.
Preeti holds a Bachelors in Engineering (Computer Science), having a vast experience working for IT firms, both in India and abroad. She has also imparted training programs for corporates. She went on to do her Diploma in Specific Learning Disabilities and a Certificate course in Autism from KPAMRC.
